An Evening of Concertos

The final of Wells Cathedral School’s concerto competition showcases the very best of their young musicians. The prize for the winner is to perform a concerto with the Symphony Orchestra in the end of year concert in July 2026.  

Six senior pupils get the chance to show off their musicianship and virtuosity in the final. This concert is not to be missed and will feature works by:

Weber – Clarinet Concerto no 1 in F minor op 73

Albrechtsberger – Concerto for Alto Trombone

Barber – Violin Concerto op 14

Saint-Saens – Violin Concerto no 3 in B minor op 61

Mendelssohn – Piano Concerto no 1 in G minor op 25

Shostakovich – Piano Concerto no 2 DH op 102
