Another virtuoso joining the growing roster of Cedars Hall Maestros, Colin Currie is probably the world’s finest – certainly the most daring – percussionist. Described by Steve Reich as “one of the greatest musicians in the world today”, Colin brings us masterpieces of minimalism and beyond with his virtuoso quartet.

Expect to be amazed: Colin’s larger ensemble was formed in 2006 for a performance of Drumming at the BBC Proms to celebrate the 70th birthday of Steve Reich whose music forms the backbone of so much contemporary drumming. Wells Cathedral School Percussion department is excited to work alongside The Colin Currie Quartet, the world’s leading solo, symphonic and chamber percussionists.

 As part of the Colin Currie quartet concert our specialist percussionists will join forces with the quartet to perform Andy Akiho’s to wALK Or ruN in wEst harlem.
